President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that applications for the government’s new soft loan scheme dedicated to content creators will open within the next two weeks.
The President
confirmed on Sunday via his official X account that technical preparations for
the scheme are in their final stages. He stressed that the initiative, a key
pledge in his administration’s manifesto, is designed to strengthen the
Maldives’ creative economy and generate new opportunities for Maldivian youth.
According to the
President, the loan scheme will be accessible to individuals and groups working
across a broad range of creative fields, including media production,
audio-visual content, entertainment, and content designed for sales and
marketing purposes. He highlighted that the program is intended to support
young people in playing a more active role in the rapidly expanding global
creative sector.
The President
also stated that he has directed the relevant authorities to ensure the
application process is widely accessible, enabling creators from across the
Maldives to benefit.
The introduction
of the soft loan scheme comes as part of broader government efforts to
diversify the economy and empower youth-led initiatives in line with
technological and creative industry growth.
