Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has laid the foundation for a Fitness and Recreation Center in HDh. Hanimaadhoo.
The foundation
laying ceremony was held during a ceremony attended by President Dr. Mohamed
Muizzu during his ongoing visit to the inhabited islands of Haa Dhaalu Atoll,
as part of his visit to Hanimaadhoo today.
The foundation
of the Fitness and Recreation Center in Hanimaadhoo was laid by Minister of
Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdullah Rafiu, MACL's CEO and Managing Director
Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, and Hanimaadhoo Council President Abdul Sattar Hassan.
The foundation
laying ceremony was attended by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's Special Envoy,
former President Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik, Minister of Finance and Planning
Moosa Zameer, Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam
Shareef Umar, as well as MACL's Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Lamaan and
MACL's Deputy Managing Director Mujtaba Latheef.
The Hanimaadhoo
Fitness and Recreation Center is one of the centers included in the agreement
signed between the Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation and MACL on 18
August 2025 to build Fitness and Recreation Centers in 63 islands across the
Maldives.
Establishing
Fitness and Recreation Centers on all inhabited islands of the Maldives by the
end of 2026 is a presidential pledge of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
