Condor to resume summer flights to Maldives, boosting European arrivals

German airline Condor has announced plans to operate flights to the Maldives during the upcoming summer season, marking a significant boost for the country’s tourism industry.

According to the airline’s published schedule, flights will operate from May 1 to October 31, with four weekly services on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The resumption of summer operations is seen as a positive development for the Maldives, particularly in strengthening connectivity with the European market during a traditionally quieter season.

Prominent Maldivian travel industry figure Mohamed Firaq welcomed the announcement, expressing his appreciation in a post on X.

“Thanks to the strong lobbying and support of German tour operators, this is very positive news for our destination,” he said.

Germany remains one of the Maldives’ key source markets, consistently ranking among the top contributors to tourist arrivals. Industry experts note that improved air connectivity from Europe plays a crucial role in sustaining year-round occupancy rates at resorts.

Condor has a long-standing relationship with the Maldives tourism sector, having operated flights to the destination for decades. The airline has historically been a major carrier for European holidaymakers travelling to the island nation, contributing significantly to the growth of the tourism industry.

The additional summer flights are expected to support the Maldives’ efforts to maintain steady arrival numbers beyond the peak winter season, while also offering more travel options for European visitors seeking tropical destinations during their holidays.
