State Trading Organization (STO) Plc strengthened its commitment to corporate social responsibility during the second quarter of 2026 by expanding its support for healthcare, education, community development and public infrastructure projects across the Maldives.
According to the company's second-quarter report, STO's CSR initiatives focused on improving community wellbeing through targeted investments aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those relating to health, quality education and sustainable communities.
In the health sector, STO donated paint and home improvement materials to healthcare facilities in Ha. Kelaa, Th. Madifushi and Sh. Funadhoo, helping improve healthcare infrastructure. The company also sponsored the Society for Health Education's International Thalassaemia Day 2026 programme to promote public health awareness.
As part of its commitment to education and youth development, STO sponsored the International Conference on Intellectual Advancement, hosted by the Islamic University of Maldives, and supported the Maldives National University Students' Exposure Trip to Malaysia. The company also provided paint, equipment and financial assistance to schools in Ha. Kelaa, Th. Madifushi, Sh. Funadhoo and Burooj Preschool, contributing to improved learning environments.
STO also continued supporting community development through infrastructure projects in Ha. Baarah, Ga. Kanduhulhudhoo and M. Dhiggaru, while contributing construction materials for the renovation of the M. Mula Family and Children Service Centre. The company further assisted the Maldives Basketball Association in enhancing its basketball training centre and supported a community tree-planting initiative organised by the Association for Dhidhdhoo Sports.
Beyond infrastructure and education, STO promoted community engagement by organising public FIFA World Cup viewing events at West Park and the Social Centre, creating inclusive spaces for communities to come together and enjoy the tournament.
The company also disclosed that it provided more than MVR 100,000 in sponsorships during the quarter to support national, professional and community initiatives. These included sponsorships for the Civil Service Commission's Dhivehi Civil Service Conference 2026, Club Maldives Cup Season 2026, the Care Society to strengthen special education services, and SVIFC's Eid Haveeru 1447 celebrations.
STO said these initiatives reflect its continued commitment to supporting education, public health, youth development and sustainable community growth, while contributing to the country's long-term social and economic development.
