Bank of Maldives Announces Recipients of Bank Fund 2026

Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced the five recipients of its Bank Fund 2026, an annual initiative aimed at empowering non-governmental organisations and supporting sustainable community development projects across the Maldives.

Under the programme, each selected project will receive MVR 200,000 in funding to implement initiatives focused on areas including digital innovation, environmental conservation, agriculture, education and community development.

The recipients of Bank Fund 2026 are:

• Dhidhdhoo Kurimagu – Establishing HIVE, a Digital Innovation and Community Resilience Hub in HA. Dhidhdhoo, providing a dedicated space for digital learning, innovation and community activities.

• Unity Sports Academy – Restoring the freshwater pond and developing the Maamuli Eco Park in Sh. Funadhoo to support environmental conservation and provide a recreational space for community use.

• Laamu Farmers Association – Establishing the Fahigovaan Value-Added Agro-Processing Hub in L. Fonadhoo and Gan to support local farmers, strengthen livelihoods and promote climate-smart agriculture.

• Blue Guild Foundation – Establishing a small-scale makerspace at Sh. Atoll School, offering students hands-on opportunities to develop creativity, innovation and practical skills.

• Kalaidhoo Wings – Developing Kalaidhoo Wings Hiyaa near the Kalaidhoo Jetty, featuring a waiting area, feeding room, washrooms, a small library and a digital notice board.

The Bank Fund is an annual programme through which five proposals submitted to BML are selected for financial support each year. The initiative forms part of the bank’s continued efforts to empower local communities and contribute to sustainable development throughout the country.

With the latest selections, BML has supported 14 projects under the Bank Fund to date. The bank had also previously provided funding to 100 projects through its Community Fund initiative.

Through these programmes, BML continues to support community-led initiatives designed to create lasting social, environmental and economic benefits across the Maldives.
