State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has launched a new digital platform named “Vashani,” aimed at simplifying access to electricity services and enabling customers to manage applications and payments online.
The portal was officially inaugurated today during a ceremony by STELCO Deputy Managing Director Dr. Ali Azwar. The platform integrates multiple electricity related services into a single online system, allowing customers and licensed professionals to complete service requests and approvals through a digital interface.
Designed as a comprehensive service platform, the Vashani portal enables users to register through the national eFaas authentication system. A key feature of the platform allows electrical engineers licensed by the Utility Regulatory Authority (URA) to submit and approve service related forms directly through the portal.
Customers can also apply for electricity services, make payments from within the Maldives or overseas, track application progress and review details of past services. Real time updates on application status are provided through SMS notifications.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Dr. Ali Azwar described the initiative as a significant step forward in improving service accessibility and operational efficiency. He said the platform reflects STELCO’s transition to a fully online and paperless service model.
“This is a holistic service. Our operations have now transitioned to an online, paperless system. This marks the fulfillment of a long held vision for the company, making today a truly historic day in STELCO’s journey,” Dr. Azwar said.
He added that the digital platform is expected to improve customer experience by simplifying access to STELCO’s services and ensuring faster processing of service requests.
The launch of the Vashani portal also aligns with the government’s broader national digitalisation programme and President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s “Maldives 2.0” vision, which aims to expand digital public services and modernise service delivery across state institutions.
STELCO noted that as a utility provider offering round the clock electricity services, the portal will support continuous access to its services while enabling customers to interact with the company through a more efficient and streamlined system.
