Sun Siyam Group Promotes Aisha Faiz, Ahmed Ibrahim to Key Leadership Roles

Sun Siyam Group has announced two senior leadership promotions, appointing Aisha Faiz as Head of the Planning Department and Ahmed Ibrahim as Director of Human Resources and Talent Development, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen internal leadership and support long-term growth.

Aisha Faiz assumes leadership of the Planning Department, where she will oversee strategic direction and overall operations, with a focus on efficiency, accountability, and performance excellence. With more than two decades of experience in finance and business, she brings expertise in procurement, logistics, and operational management.

She will continue in her concurrent role as Chief Operating Officer, overseeing the Purchasing Department to ensure close alignment between procurement and project planning. The group said this integrated approach is expected to support disciplined planning, cost control, and effective project execution.

Aisha holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Business Management (Magna Cum Laude) from Marymount Manhattan College and an MBA from Edith Cowan University. She is also a member of the Sigma Beta Delta and Alpha Chi honour societies. Having spent over a decade in Singapore leading her own business ventures, she brings international experience alongside long-standing ties to Sun Siyam Group, having been part of its early foundation.

Ahmed Ibrahim has been promoted to Director of Human Resources and Talent Development, following his tenure as Director of Training and Development since March 2025. During this period, he led several key initiatives aimed at strengthening workforce capabilities, corporate culture, and leadership development across the organisation.

In his new role, Ahmed will oversee all human resources and talent development functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and organisational development. With more than 20 years of experience in HR, his focus will be on enhancing employee engagement and advancing the group’s people strategy.

Ahmed holds a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Westminster and a Bachelor’s degree in HR and Administrative Management from La Trobe University. He is a Chartered Member of CIPD (UK) and has been recognised among the 100 Top Global HR Minds at the World HRD Congress. He also serves as President and Co-Founder of the Maldives Association of HR Professionals.

Sun Siyam Group CEO Deepak Booneady said the appointments reflect the company’s commitment to developing talent from within.

“Both Aisha and Ahmed have played important roles in the growth of Sun Siyam, and these appointments reflect our belief in recognising and developing talent from within,” Booneady said.

“Aisha’s strategic and operational expertise, together with Ahmed’s focus on people development and culture, will be key as we continue to strengthen the organisation and deliver on the long-term vision of our Chairman and Founder.”

Sun Siyam Group was founded in 1990 by Ahmed Siyam Mohamed and has grown into one of the Maldives’ leading hospitality brands.

The group’s resort portfolio began with the opening of Sun Siyam Vilu Reef in 1998 and has since expanded to six properties across the Maldives and Sri Lanka. Its latest addition, Siyam World, opened in 2021. Operating under “The House of Siyam,” the portfolio spans luxury, lifestyle, and privé segments, including Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, Sun Siyam Olhuveli, Sun Siyam Iru Veli, Sun Siyam Vilu Reef, and Sun Siyam Pasikudah in Sri Lanka.
