Visit Maldives and Emirates Sign Tourism Promotion Agreement

Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) and Emirates have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen the international promotion of the Maldives and support tourism growth.

The agreement was signed during Arabian Travel Market 2026 by VMC Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Abdulla Yasir and Emirates Senior Vice President for Commercial Operations, WAIO, Essa Sulaiman Ahmad.

Under the agreement, the two organisations will collaborate on destination marketing, promotional campaigns and engagement with travel trade partners in mutually agreed markets.

The partnership will also support familiarisation initiatives and connect the Maldives’ destination marketing efforts with Emirates’ international aviation network.

Yasir said sustained tourism growth required close coordination between air connectivity and destination promotion. He added that the collaboration would help strengthen the Maldives’ visibility in key markets through one of the world’s major airline networks.

Ahmad said Emirates looked forward to promoting the Maldives across its network through joint marketing and travel trade initiatives. These efforts are expected to increase awareness of the destination and stimulate travel demand from priority markets.

The signing was witnessed by Minister of State for Tourism and Civil Aviation Dr Abdulla Niyaz; VMC Chairman Abdulla Ghiyas Riyaz; Minister Counsellor at the Maldivian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates Ahmed Farih Mohamed; and VMC Chief Operating Officer Sabeeha Ahmed.

VMC said the partnership forms part of its wider efforts to strengthen ties with airlines and the travel industry, expand the Maldives’ reach in international markets and support sustainable growth in visitor arrivals.
