BML Affordable Home Leasing Company has progressed construction on its Hulhumalé Phase I housing project, with foundation preparation completed and concrete works under way for 182 of the 364 units being developed through Amin Construction.
The 364-unit development forms part of BML’s wider affordable housing programme being implemented under the Government’s “Housing for All” policy.
The programme is also being carried out under the Maldives Monetary Authority’s Inclusive National Affordable Housing Scheme, which is designed to expand access to affordable home ownership through greater participation by the banking sector.
BML Affordable Home Leasing’s initial housing portfolio comprises 3,260 units being developed across Hulhumalé and Vilimalé under a lease-to-own model.
The 3,260-unit programme includes projects awarded to Amin Construction, FW Construction, Rasheed Carpentry and Construction, China Machinery Engineering Corporation and Beijing Urban Construction Group.
In June, the Government announced plans to add a further 710 housing units to the 3,260 already contracted through BML.
Construction is currently under way on the 3,260 units, with the housing developments targeted for completion by mid-2028.
