Ooredoo Concludes Ramadan E-Sports Festival 2K26 with Strong National Participation

Ooredoo Nation has concluded the Ramadan E-Sports Festival 2K26, marking the end of a nationwide competitive gaming event held in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, Empowerment, Information and Arts. The festival combined online and LAN tournament formats and drew participation from across the Maldives, reflecting growing momentum in the country’s e-sports landscape.

The closing ceremony took place last Saturday at the Youth Hub and was attended by Minister of Youth, Empowerment, Information and Arts Ibrahim Waheed, Ooredoo Maldives Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Shadi Al-Mansour Ghavasmi, and Ooredoo Maldives Chief Commercial Officer Hussain Niyaz. The event formally recognised winners across four major titles and highlighted the expanding role of digital competitions among Maldivian youth.

The tournament structure was designed to maximise accessibility. Tekken and EAFC were conducted as LAN events at the Youth Hub, while PUBG Mobile and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang were hosted online, enabling teams and players from different atolls to compete without geographic constraints.

Now concluded for the second consecutive year, the Ramadan E-Sports Festival continues to position e-sports as a growing segment within the youth and digital ecosystem of the Maldives. With increasing participation and institutional collaboration, the event signals further expansion of organised competitive gaming and its potential role in fostering digital skills and community engagement nationwide.
