The Rasmale’ Land Reclamation Project continues to make steady progress, with 64 hectares reclaimed out of the planned 138 hectares at Site A, representing approximately 47% overall completion.
Reclamation works at Site A are being carried out using Cristóbal Colón, one of the world’s two largest Trailer Suction Hopper Dredgers. The vessel has a capacity of 46,000 cubic metres and is operated by Jan De Nul, a global leader in marine engineering and dredging works.
The project is being implemented by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), which commenced reclamation activities at Rasmale’ Site A on 1 December 2025.
The ongoing reclamation forms a key component of broader infrastructure development plans and is expected to play a significant role in supporting future growth once completed.
Peninsula Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, established as a wholly owned subsidiary of MACL, has been tasked with implementing large-scale land reclamation and infrastructure projects. These include the flagship Rasmale’ project and development works in Dhihdhoo, underscoring MACL’s expanded involvement in major national development initiatives under President Muizzu’s government.
