The Maldives Zakat House has announced that Fitr Zakat payments can be made through seven online platforms this year, offering greater convenience for the public as Ramadan approaches. Payments will be accepted from today until 6:00 AM on the 27th day of Ramadan, with select platforms remaining open until the final day of the holy month.
According to the Zakat House, the initiative aims to simplify the payment process and encourage timely contributions, ensuring that assistance reaches eligible recipients before Eid al-Fitr. The expanded digital options are expected to reduce congestion at physical collection points while improving accessibility for residents across the country.
Fitr Zakat rates for this year have been determined based on staple food items as follows:

Red Rice — MVR 96
Basmati Rice (Regular) — MVR 77
Basmati Rice (High Quality) — MVR 109
Basmati Rice (Premium) — MVR 136

The Zakat House noted that payments via Bandeyri Pay and FahiPay will remain open until the last day of Ramadan, providing additional flexibility for late contributors.
For individuals who are not familiar with online payment methods, Zakat collection counters have also been arranged at the Islamic Centre hall. Officials emphasized that these physical counters are intended to ensure inclusivity so that all members of the community can fulfill their religious obligation.
The Zakat House further stated that weekly updates on Zakat collection statistics will be released throughout Ramadan, highlighting the overall contributions and supporting transparency in the distribution process.
