MTCC Announces Temporary Suspension of RTL Services During Ramadan Peak Hours

Public transport services under the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) network in the Greater Malé area will be temporarily suspended during specific evening hours throughout the upcoming month of Ramadan, according to an announcement by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

The company stated that the revised schedule will affect both ferry and bus services, particularly during the late afternoon and early evening periods, coinciding with iftar hours. The temporary adjustments are aimed at accommodating operational needs during the holy month.

Under the updated schedule, bus services on the Male’-Hulhumale’ and Hulhumale’-Airport routes will be suspended from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm daily. The Male’-Airport route will halt services from 5:00 pm to 6:40 pm, while the Hulhumale’ internal route will not operate between 5:15 pm and 7:15 pm.

Additionally, services on the Male’ internal bus route will be suspended for a longer duration, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The Villingili internal bus route will also be paused from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Ferry operations will face similar adjustments. Services on the Male’-Villingili and Male’-Thilafushi routes will be suspended from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Meanwhile, ferry services between Male’ and Gulhifalhu will be halted from 4:15 pm to 5:00 pm. The Hulhumale’-Male’ ferry route will cease operations after 3:00 pm each day during Ramadan.

MTCC expressed sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused to commuters and advised passengers to plan their travel in advance in light of the temporary changes.

For further information or clarification regarding the revised schedules, MTCC has urged customers to contact its hotline at 1650.

The RTL network plays a key role in connecting Malé, Hulhumalé, Villingili, Thilafushi and Gulhifalhu, providing essential daily transport services for thousands of commuters across the Greater Malé region.
