Flynas Resumes Direct Flights to Maldives with Three Weekly Services

Saudi Arabian low-cost carrier Flynas has resumed scheduled operations to the Maldives, re-establishing direct air connectivity between Riyadh and Velana International Airport (VIA).

The airline will operate three weekly flights between Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport and Velana International Airport, further strengthening travel and tourism links between the Maldives and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The first flight following the resumption, Flynas flight XY245, arrived at Velana International Airport today and was welcomed with a ceremonial water salute and a traditional Bodu Beru cultural performance. Passengers arriving on the inaugural flight, as well as those departing on the first outbound Flynas service from Malé, received special commemorative giveaways to mark the occasion.

The return of Flynas is expected to support growing travel demand from the Saudi Arabian market while offering passengers enhanced connectivity between the Maldives and the Middle East. Saudi Arabia continues to be an important source market for Maldivian tourism, and the resumption of regular Flynas services is expected to further facilitate visitor arrivals from the region.

Velana International Airport, operated by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), continues to expand its network of international airline partners and strengthen its position as the Maldives' primary international gateway. MACL remains committed to enhancing connectivity, improving passenger experience, and supporting the sustainable growth of the nation's aviation and tourism industries.

The resumption of Flynas services marks another positive development in the Maldives' efforts to diversify and expand its international tourism markets while strengthening bilateral travel links with the Middle East.
