The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has launched a public initiative seeking historical photographs related to the authority as part of efforts to document its institutional history.
In an announcement, the central bank invited individuals who possess historical images connected to the MMA to submit them for possible inclusion in a book that will chronicle the authority’s past. The initiative forms part of the institution’s efforts to compile archival material reflecting its historical development and milestones.
According to the MMA, members of the public who hold such photographs can submit them via email to media@mma.gov.mv before 3:00 PM on the 24th of this month. The authority noted that submissions are expected to contribute to a broader effort to preserve visual records associated with the central bank’s history.
The MMA also stated that any photographs received will only be used following consultation and mutual agreement with the respective owners. This approach is intended to ensure that the use of historical materials is carried out with the consent of contributors.
Through the initiative, the central bank is encouraging individuals who may have preserved photographs connected to the authority’s earlier years to share them within the stated deadline.
The project to compile a historical publication is expected to document the evolution of the Maldives Monetary Authority and highlight key moments in the development of the country’s monetary and financial system.
