STO Healthcare has introduced a state of the art cardiovascular ultrasound system at Hulhumalé Hospital, marking a significant upgrade to cardiac diagnostic services in the Maldives. The GE Healthcare Vivid E95 cardiovascular ultrasound system was officially handed over on February 22, 2026, alongside a structured application training session for medical professionals.
The training programme was attended by healthcare personnel from Hulhumalé Hospital and representatives from Tree Top Hospital, reflecting a coordinated effort to strengthen cardiac imaging services across institutions. The system was delivered under a strategic partnership between STO Healthcare and GE HealthCare, a global provider of medical imaging and healthcare technologies.

The GE Vivid E95 is designed to deliver high resolution imaging of cardiac structures, heart function and blood flow. Equipped with dedicated probes for adults, paediatric patients and neonates, the system supports early detection of congenital heart defects in newborns and enables comprehensive cardiac evaluations across all age groups. Clinicians are expected to benefit from clearer imaging and faster diagnostic insights, supporting more informed and timely clinical decisions.
The introduction of advanced cardiovascular imaging at Hulhumalé Hospital enhances institutional capacity in a specialised area of care that often requires overseas referral. By expanding access to sophisticated diagnostic tools locally, the initiative is expected to reduce the need for patients to seek treatment abroad, easing both financial and logistical burdens on families.

STO Healthcare stated that the rollout goes beyond equipment supply. The company has undertaken professional installation, application training and ongoing technical support to ensure effective system integration. Warranty coverage and after sales support are being managed by STO’s certified biomedical engineers and clinical application specialists in coordination with industry experts. This framework is intended to safeguard operational sustainability and maximise the clinical value of the technology.
The deployment of the GE Vivid E95 system represents a milestone in ongoing efforts to modernise diagnostic infrastructure within the Maldivian healthcare sector. It strengthens cardiac, paediatric and neonatal diagnostic capabilities while reinforcing collaboration between STO Healthcare and local healthcare providers to elevate the overall standard of specialised medical care in the country.
