State Trading Organization (STO) has introduced Hitachi brand refrigerators and washing machines through STO People’s Choice, bearing the local ‘Hakathari’ label.
The ‘Hakathari’, under the Hakathari program first introduced in 2021, identifies environmentally conscious and energy-saving brands. STO is the first Maldivian corporation to become affiliated with the program as well.
On May 12, 2022 STO introduced the first ‘Hakathari’ labeled Hitachi air conditions to the Maldivian market. The slate of air conditioners introduced under the ‘Hakathari’ label used 42% less electricity compared to conventional one-star rated A/Cs.
STO expanded its ‘Hakathari’ labeled offerings in November 2023, with labels put on 14 different Hitachi refrigerator models, that included three-star and four-star models.
The ‘Hakathari’ label is categorized from one to five star ratings; indicating the extent of energy saving capabilities of an appliance, with five-star indicating the highest amount in energy saving.
The new Hitachi line of refrigerators and washing machines bearing the ‘Hakathari’ label, introduced on Thursday, June 27, are eco-friendly designs and saves energy.
